Why I Relay
Cancer has affected so many people I know and love and that has given me a personal connection to join Relay For Life. A few years ago, my grandma was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, and never in my life have a witnessed such a strong, inspiring, loving person fight as hard as she did. She never gave up. Never even batted an eye, and that's how I knew we were going to make it through and everything was going to be okay.
She ignited something inside me that I never knew how to myself. The day that I found out the cancer was gone, and she was starting to recover was the day her fight ended and mine began. For it wasn't long before, both my mother and my aunt tested positive for a gene mutation which greatly increases the risk of hereditary breast and pancreatic cancer.
I have a 50% chance of having this mutation, but I am too young to get tested. It would mean the world to me if you could donate to my relay for life fundraiser so we can kick cancer out of this world for good!
